The 24 Hour Relay

Supporting Children with Disabilities in our Community

The Cause

Every year in June the 24 Hour Relay for The Kids is held at Swanguard Stadium in Burnaby where over 100 teams from all over the Lower Mainland run to help raise money to send over 1,300 children with disabilities to the B.C. Lions Society's specially equipped Easter Seal Camps. There, children attend a six day camp session at no cost to their families.Camp activities include swimming, canoeing, nature trails, arts and crafts, field sports and overnight camp-outs.

A week at camp learning new skills and making new friends builds the children’s self confidence and self-esteem. In many cases, they return home stronger and more self assured.

Since 1992 Prudential Sussex Realty has played a large part in this worth-while event raising over $130,000 to date.

For the past four years our company has been asked to host the KIDZ CAMP where over 400 kids come to enjoy many fun-filled activities during the day such as face painting, crafts and card colouring.

Over 40 Prudential volunteers help to make the KIDZ CAMP one of the biggest attractions at this event.

"What do I get out of it?" you might ask. -

"A warm fuzzy feeling in my heart!"

The Harvest

Project

The Cause

The Harvest Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those people on the North Shore who are experiencing difficult life circumstances.

Prudential Sussex Realty is one of The Harvest Project's founding sponors since its inception in 1993 and has raised over $105,000 to date.

The range of services provided by the Harvest has grown tremendously from a food bank to a full service organization, helping people with not only their immediate needs such as food and shelter but also providing long range programs to get people back on their feet and into the workforce again. Private counselling, job interviews and learning new computer skills as well as a 'Dress for Success' on-site boutique helps to boost peoples' moral and self-esteem.

With the most recent government changes in the Welfare Sector, The Harvest Project will play an indispensable role in the life of North Shore residents and their families. Continuous donations are the "life blood" of this community service oriented organization. Without this community support, the day to day operations of the Harvest Project could be substanially limited.

If you are a North Shore resident and you care about the well being of your community please click on the donation link below. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will help in the life of a child, mother or father. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Petra Leduc-Ebner

(Harvest Project Task Force Member)
